In recent research conducted by IMRG, the UK’s online retail association, they found that 63% of people surveyed in the UK would use a particular retailer again if the delivery experience was good. This not only shows how important it is to the customer but that it’s also a great way of retaining customers.
To delve into the customer’s mind and wants a little more, the 2018 State of Ecommerce Delivery report revealed that over half (54%) of consumers stated that clear and accurate tracking is an important consideration for the majority of their purchases. Which translates to a huge number of customers turning away from a particular online store because they feel like they’re not getting complete security.
So what do these numbers really mean?
They mean that customers are much more likely to trust and use an online service when clear, transparent tracked deliveries are used. So in a nutshell – more sales. It gives your end-customers peace of mind, an assurance that when you hit the button, your orders will arrive. If a new customer arrives on your website, it’s natural for them to have a few concerns. Having tracked deliveries displayed loud and proud goes some way to mitigate this as everyone understands what it means and what it offers.
These services also give the retailer greater control, provides a superior customer experience and wastes less of their time chasing up the order or worrying about it. To further prove this point 58% of customers have said they will choose one online provider over another because they simply offer more delivery options.
One further statistic on this topic is from the Omni-Channel Retail Report. Their research revealed that 49% of ecommerce customers think that ‘clear communication regarding delivery time’ is the most important element of the whole delivery process. A huge number considering that other things like actual delivery time and packaging are also big considerations.
