Why We Use Tracked Services & Why You Should Too
Firstly, for those of you who didn’t know already, we use tracked deliveries for every single order we handle at
We’ve already referenced one of the main answers, security. But there are a bunch of other reasons for doing so too, all of which we will outline in this blog. Hopefully, by the end of this article you’ll be on the same page as us and understand why using tracked services is such a priority for us.
Give the People What They Want
The obvious end goal for ecommerce is selling more and more products to customers, while also ensuring that those same customers are happy with their products once they receive them. With so many purchases being made online in modern times, we have got to a point where the actual delivery of said items is becoming almost as important as the product itself.
In recent research conducted by IMRG, the UK’s online retail association, they found that 63% of people surveyed in the UK would use a particular retailer again if the delivery experience was good. This not only shows how important it is to the customer but that it’s also a great way of retaining customers.
To delve into the customer’s mind and wants a little more, the 2018 State of Ecommerce Delivery report revealed that over half (54%) of consumers stated that clear and accurate tracking is an important consideration for the majority of their purchases. Which translates to a huge number of customers turning away from a particular online store because they feel like they’re not getting complete security.
So what do these numbers really mean?
They mean that customers are much more likely to trust and use an online service when clear, transparent tracked deliveries are used. So in a nutshell – more sales. It gives your end-customers peace of mind, an assurance that when you hit the button, your orders will arrive. If a new customer arrives on your website, it’s natural for them to have a few concerns. Having tracked deliveries displayed loud and proud goes some way to mitigate this as everyone understands what it means and what it offers.
These services also give the retailer greater control, provides a superior customer experience and wastes less of their time chasing up the order or worrying about it. To further prove this point 58% of customers have said they will choose one online provider over another because they simply offer more delivery options.
One further statistic on this topic is from the Omni-Channel Retail Report. Their research revealed that 49% of ecommerce customers think that ‘clear communication regarding delivery time’ is the most important element of the whole delivery process. A huge number considering that other things like actual delivery time and packaging are also big considerations.
As well as this research revealing what the end customer wants, we also use tracked services to ensure retailers’ peace of mind too.
Trust & Transparency
As we all know, ecommerce is a huge market and it continues to grow each day. But despite its growth, it can’t replace everything that physical shopping does. When you buy an item in-store, you can pick it up and take it away instantly and despite the amazing technological advancements of the 21st century, you can’t do that online. So even though it’s not nearly the same, we see tracked deliveries and the proof of delivery as the next best thing for online orders. We want something to show you and your customers that can put your mind at ease.
Sitting down with the CPO and Co-founder of Weengs, Greg Zontanos, he went into a bit more detail.
“Not only does it add more security, which is particularly helpful for our retailers with higher-ticket items, but it also adds transparency. Sometimes deliveries can take a long time and if they do, we want you to know that right away so it’s less frustrating. It’s always better
Greg Zontanos, CPO and Co-founder of Weengs
When talking about the type of security it offers, Greg mentions that the tracked service can be treated as “a guarantee”, something which means you can stop worrying about it. And in turn, ensure your customers aren’t worried either.
One final benefit of tracked deliveries is in solving problems. If there is an issue with the delivery, for example, if it’s late, lost, misplaced or other, then having the tracked details makes it far easier to find and solve this issue. This not only helps you be prepared for the worst possible outcome but it also adds to that all-important word of security.
